Twirl Chocolate Cheek: Cadbury's Are At It Too
Here we go again as 'supply chain' issues for 600g Heroes tubs mean tough treat-sized substitute decisions made
Are my eyes deceiving me — can you believe it — it’s now Twirl that’s come under threat but not as a PR exercise (or so we’re led to believe) unlike Mars and their Bounty options but rather it’s stated that due to supply chain issues for the 600g Heroes tubs that ‘some’ boxes will have the 21g bar sized substitutes rather than the bite-sized chocolates.
Well, Cadbury’s are standing good on their chocolatey promise and instead of removal or a switch for another bite-sized snack you’ll be feasting your eyes and treating your taste buds to larger treat versions of their mini me counterpart.
What’s all the hype you might say and for good reason because of course Cadbury want to keep their loyal customers happy (so they say or so their marketing output says) and so they have problem solved and their solution is we’ll be forced to eat larger bars of refined cacao which comes rapidly after Mars Wrigley announce the change for non-Bounty lovers. (see the Evening Standard article here).
The cynical part of me says maybe it’s clever that they too have found themselves on the news and with some free promotional chat surrounding their very own festive tubs where ‘some’ boxes will be impacted — which are now in full circulation and perhaps desiring some of their own attention.
It’s like seeking the golden ticket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Either way as a consumer we’re not missing out are we because we can stock up on both Celebrations and Heroes and no calories count do they over the festive season — that’s for January isn’t it? (Queue thinking face)
So, dive right on in and make your selection or better still have two tubs and make your own decision — but which would you choose Bounty or Twirl? Coconut chocolate or tiny woven swirls of chocolatey Twirl — or both?
Whilst you consider your chocolate vote and munch on some seasonal delights (it would be rude not to sample a few) you can check out The Money Making Mars PR Move by Mars Wrigley article I wrote where 39% of people surveyed (always check the stats and the number of people involved) voted against having Bounty within their boxes this year.
Whatever food heaven will be impacted next? Please not Colin the Caterpillar and his friends or even Kevin the Carrot (#KevinTheCarrot).
